Longmen Grottoes Academic Salon: Sculptors’ Perspectives on the Longmen Grottoes
Recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage site, the Longmen Grottoes are acclaimed as "the pinnacle of Chinese stone carving art."
In recent years, to further strengthen the preservation, research, exhibition, utilization, inheritance, and promotion of the site, the Longmen Grottoes Academy has actively explored and innovated the “Longmen Model” for the protection and utilization of grotto temples. Adhering to the philosophy of “Cooperation, Openness, and Sharing,” the Academy has fostered cross-departmental collaboration, multidisciplinary participation, and the application of advanced technologies. These efforts are dedicated to constructing the academic framework of “Longmen Studies” and propelling the protection and utilization of the Longmen Grottoes into a new realm.
We will regularly invite renowned domestic and international experts and scholars to participate in this salon. Through lectures, interviews, and other formats, participants will engage in academic exchanges, showcase research findings, and share insights regarding grotto temple archaeology, culture and art, stone cultural relic conservation, and the display and utilization of grotto temples. This series is dedicated to establishing the “Longmen Grottoes Academic Salon” as a premier brand in the field.
